A peek into the room where I spend most of my creative time. When my husband and I retired and started shopping for our forever home in Reno, we made a wish list of everything we wanted in the house. First on my list was a well-lit enclosed room big enough for all my equipment, including the huge cutting table. When we found this room, I knew I was home. The room is located near the front of the house, where I get a full view of the street and the mountains beyond. The south-facing arched window provides plenty of natural light, but I also have several can lights in the ceiling loaded with bright daylight bulbs. Perhaps best of all, it has big double doors that I can close to hide the mess when company comes -- although I find that most visitors love to hang out in here. I have a separate room for my office, with a computer, drafting table, and lots more shelves and drawers full of fabrics and supplies. Click photos for larger views. My equipment1. Janome Memory Craft 6600, a basic computerized sewing machine that can handle all types of fabrics from the thinnest chiffons to dense leather. It's a true work horse that I've had for many years. 2. Juki serger. This was indispensable when making stretchy dance costumes. Nowadays I mostly use it for Christmas stockings. 3. Janome MB-4S four-needle embroidery machine. 4. Dupray Professional Steam Iron. 5. and 6. Sew-Brite modular cutting table. I love love love this table. It's big, with lots of storage, and it's on wheels, so I can easily push it aside to access the shelves behind it. Did I mention that I love this table? Click photos for larger views.
